Smart Development Counties should develop in ways that are best for all the residents and not just for the profit of the developers. Living Wage & Labor Rights Deanna supports county ordinances that would favor contracts to companies that offer a living wage. Deanna supports the rights of workers, unions, and prevailing wage rules. Fair Elections Deanna supports using run-offs in elections. Deanna will work for accountabiliy in elections to insure that votes are counted accuracutely. Transportation and Recreational Vehicles Traffic congestion cannot be dealt with without slowing population growth or long-term planning on organizing our cities better and establishing mass transportation, getting fuel cell going in cars and reducing the size of cars. ATV use must be curtailed and eventually prohibited in our recreational areas. More info here.

Environment By requiring stringent "green" development standards, municipalities and counties would be advocating and promoting a healthier environment. Municipalities and counties should promote bike trails, carpooling and public transit. To that end, install free parking along major bus lines to make it easier for people to drive a short distance to catch a bus. Increase curbside recycling to reach all areas and include the collection of glass. Buy more renewable energy Eenforce land-use policies to reduce sprawl and preserve open space. There should be increased efforts to create more walkable communities. Education Guarantee a quality education to everyone, including equal access to resources such as books, school facilities that work, and great teachers who are paid enough to stay in the profession. Health Deanna supports guaranteeing Universal Health Care to everyone. She supports policy that would insure health care benefits to all employees, inclusive of domestic partner benefits. Consumerism Peace Municipalities and counties across the U.S. need to join with other brave communities around the nation in condemning the illegal war in Iraq. Read more.
