Biography
Deanna has been a member of the Green Party of Utah Desert Greens since 2001. She is currently serving as a Co-Cooridnator and Alternate Delegate to the Green Party of the United States (GPUS). Deanna has served as a Forum Manager of the GPUS National Committee Listserves and is a member of the GPUS Eco-Acton Committee.
Deanna is a co-founder of the Green Party Peace Network
Deanna "Dee" L. Taylor was a first time candidate, running for Salt Lake County Council District 5 in the Fall of 2006.
Deanna is a co-founder of Blue Sky Institute, a progressive educational non-profit. Deanna has been a public school educator for 25 years, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. Deanna holds teaching licenses in Secondary Music and Special Education. She currently is the Director of Educational Support Services for grades 7-12 in a First Amendment public charter school in Salt Lake City.
Deanna participates with People for Peace and Justice of Utah as a strong advocate for peace and justice issues. Deanna has helped organize some of the largest peace events in Utah's history and has been participating in weekly sidewalk vigils since 2001 in downtown Salt Lake City. Deanna is also a co-founder and active participant with Utah's Radical Cheerleading Squad, Pom Poms Not Bomb Bombs, which performs at many events in Utah.
Deanna volunteers with other environmental organizatons as an advocate for a nuclear-free world and has participated in actions at the Nevada Test Site in opposition to nuclear testing and on the Goshute Reservation in western Utah to voice opposition to nuclear waste facilities being built there.
Deanna lives in West Jordan with her husband, Tom King.
